44Net is not operated entirely by a single organization alone. It exists through a combination of governance, stewardship, technical advice, and community participation. This page provides an overview of the primary roles that support and sustain the network.

Governance

ARDC Board of Directors
Provides organizational governance and fiduciary oversight.

Stewardship and operations

ARDC Staff
Responsible for day-to-day operation of the 44Net program and infrastructure coordination.

Technical advisory

Technical Advisory Committee (TAC)
Provides technical guidance and recommendations.

Regional coordination

Regional Coordinators
Support local participants, allocations, and community development.

Community participation

44Net participants contribute in many ways, including:

  • Operating subnets and experimental networks
  • Building IPIP mesh links or routing infrastructure
  • Running services and applications on 44Net
  • Contributing documentation, tools, and technical expertise
  • Supporting local and regional amateur radio networking efforts

Participation in 44Net is voluntary and decentralized. Individuals and groups engage in many different modes, from personal experimentation to operating shared infrastructure.
