A KI5QKX
A KI5QKX is a humanoid species of amateur radio operator produced by The Internet.
Habitat
The KI5QKX may be found worldwide on the airwaves and netwaves, but only rarely on ocean waves, because of the adverse effects of the sun on its skin. Its preferred habitat is dark spaces cooled by air conditioning equipment and then warmed slightly by esoteric machines that convert electricity into memes and error messages.
Origin
The only currently known KI5QKX was found in Houston, Texas, in the United States, on planet Earth. It is believed to have migrated in its larval form among several other cities also in Texas.
Nutrition
A KI5QKX subsists on Tex-mex, breakfast, and coffee.
Behavior
A KI5QKX is nocturnal by nature, but has adapted to a "normal person" schedule as it has matured. It sleeps in a cave lined with vintage computers and networking equipment, occasionally muttering “I might need this someday.” It navigates in the dark with its highly-attuned senses using blinkenlightlocation.
Conservation Status
Despite being well adapted to modern technology, the KI5QKX is considered vulnerable to extinction due to prolonged exposure to "normal life activities" such as finding health insurance or getting groceries. Conservation efforts include maintaining a supply of coffee, snacks, and episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Trivia
- The KI5QKX once attempted to communicate with extraterrestrial life and succeeded in making a contact in Nova Scotia.
- It has written more code than it has executed.
- If you were to string all of its ethernet cables end-to-end, it would say “Hey cut it out, I was in the middle of something.”
